Up to 30,000 people from all walks of life will take to the streets of Cape Town to participate in the Cape Town Big Walk in 2010. Thousands more will line the streets to pass refreshments to participants, or to spur them on towards the finish line, adding to the friendly, festive atmosphere of the event.
There are several starting points for the Cape Town Big Walk, depending on the length of the route participants have registered for. The walking routes pass through some of Cape Town’s most scenic suburbs before finishing at the Rhodes High School in Mowbray.
Participants have their pick of route distances:
5km, 10km and 15km routes are available to casual walkers and cover the latter stages of the main Big Walk route. These routes are untimed and cater for all ages and fitness levels.
20km, 25km, 30km, 50km and 80km timed routes are on offer for serious walkers and distance runners.
Online entries for the Cape Town Big Walk open on Friday 1 October 2010, and close on Sunday 31 October 2010.
