NTPC eager for 50% stake in OTPCL power plant

L&T and Bhel in addition disposed to lift up venture in the project

Online PR News – 24-December-2014 – MUMBAI/MAHARASHTRA – NTPC Ltd, the nation’s chief thermal power manufacturer, has demonstrated curiosity to rise up 50 per cent venture in the 2,400 Mw (3×800) power developments to be initiated at Kamakhyanagar in Dhenkanal district.
The extra-large power venture is being urbanized by Odisha Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (OPTCL) where two state PSUs — Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) and Odisha Hydro Power Corporation Ltd (OHPC) cling to 50 per cent venture each.
“NTPC has given a suggestion to get hold of 50 per cent venture in the OTPCL development. Although the administration has not taken an appeal to it up till now. To provide accommodation NTPC, each of the joint venture cohorts have to weaken their ventures,” said an administration representative.
Moreover NTPC, manufacturing giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (Bhel) were in addition tending to lift up venture in OTPCL’s mission. Both these central PSUs were enthusiastic for merely 26 per cent venture each and that in addition with a rider that their gear would be used in the power plant.

The power purchase agreement (PPA) for auction of complete authority to be produced by the OTPCL power station has been implemented with Gridco, the state possessed power trading firm.
OTPCL has attained theoretically endorsement from the water resources section for distribution of 80 cusecs of water from Brahmani river.
The Tentuloi coal block in Talcher coalfields with hold back of 1234 million tonne has been owed for the power plant. Yearly prerequisite of coal is 12.62 million tonne for each annum.
