eBook shows Cuban people have long understood the wisdom of a soft rather than hard touch in human and nation state relations says author Ingrid Walter
Online PR News – 20-December-2014 – Toronto, Ontario – Ingrid Walter, author of A Sea of Wisdom Island Proverbs – Cuba, is gifting copies of her eBook on Amazon Christmas eve to demonstrate the Cuban people have long understood the wisdom of the carrot instead of the stick in human and nation state relations.
“Nowhere is that more clear than in their proverbs, one of which has a literal translation -With nice words and good manners, doors open. In other words: You are likely to accomplish more with a soft, rather than hard touch.”
While Walter says she understands why at times countries go to war and establish embargoes on rogue states, like many, she thinks it’s time the United States remove itself from its lone ranger status. The US has for years been the only western industrialized country without diplomatic relations with the Caribbean island.
Walter adds, “This week’s announcement by President Barack Obama shows an understanding of what I saw when I visited the island. The Cuban people are like you and I.Their sayings reflect their deep interest in being free, productive citizens who can feed, clothe and take care of themselves and their families. Isolation by the US has adversely affected them by stunting Cuba’s economic growth.”
The proverbs in Walter’s eBook are presented in Spanish with English translations. They include the following, “Risk takers are often lucky and attract opportunity, if you snooze you lose, with time wounds heal and as long as there is life there is hope.”
A Sea of Wisdom, Island Proverbs - Cuba is one of a series of seven eBooks available on Amazon.com and is based on an original soft cover book published in 2004. The islands featured are Jamaica, St Lucia, Antigua, the Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos Islands, Barbados and Cuba.
The initial publication was first sold through Sandals Beaches Resorts and in book stores across the Caribbean.
All eBooks can be downloaded on the Kindle eReader and are available with Amazon’s reading app on the iPhone, iPod Touch, Android, Mac, Windows computer and any tablet.
