About Sariyah Idan:
Her Jewish roots fuel her music but her sound is quite diverse. New York-raised Jewish American vocalist, songwriter and actor Sariyah Idan weaves soul, folk, hip hop and more into a distinct musical creation that is all her own. She pulls inspiration from classic artists such as Marvin Gaye to Suzanne Vega, Wu-Tang to Yasmin Levy and Balkan Beat Box to Manu Chao. Her live sound ranges from solo acoustic to sound systems and full band arrangements.
Sariyah has toured nationally and has been interviewed and played on radio stations WBAI, KPFK, KPFA, KXLU and ORF Radio FM4 in Vienna. She has performed original music in New York, Los Angeles, the SF Bay Area, Boston, Philadelphia, Northampton MA and Vienna Austria.
As a writer and actor, Sariyah is also well known for her internationally-touring solo theater production “Homeless in Homeland”. The highly praised show uses dance, poetry and character monologue to uniquely capture an intimate struggle with identity through the lens of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Sariyah currently performs in Los Angeles, hosting Acoustic Second Saturdays at the Thirsty Crow Bar in Silverlake and Gaia Soundsystem’s First Sundays at Industry Cafe and Jazz in Culver City.
