North Fort Myers hybrid school students took a field trip to learn about the life of Jesus, and the history of the Bible and Christianity.
Online PR News – 12-December-2014 – North Fort Myers, Fla. – Classical Christian Academy students experienced recreations of their history and Bible lessons in a school-wide field trip to The Holy Land Experience in Orlando, Florida, on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014.
In Classical education, students often study history in chronological order. At Classical Christian Academy that happens for Lower school students in a four year cycle: Ancient History (the beginning of time through Jesus’ resurrection), Medieval Times (30 AD – 1456), Colonial America (1455-1707), and Modern History (1700 – modern times). This year, students are studying Ancient Times. Throughout Upper School, students study Florida History and Geography, World Geography, American History, World History and Government Economics.
“We want learning to be fun and we know trips like this help make the lessons come alive for our students,” said Michelle Hutchcraft, who is a parent to Lower and Upper School students, and field trip committee member.
At CCA, the entire family is invited to participate in the school field trips. Families from both CCA’s hybrid and Connections programs, siblings who attend other schools and grandparents attended the field trip to the Holy Land Experience. More than 80 people took the field trip together, with just over 35 of them CCA students.
“We loved the Holy Land field trip with CCA,” beamed Lindi Mammano, a parent with three new students at CCA this year. “It was such a blessing being able to experience it with our whole family, which includes teenagers, elementary age, and a preschooler. We're thankful for the ability to mix family time with school time!”
CCA typically plans two school-wide field trips each year. The trips often focus on the current year’s history and science lessons. Next spring, CCA will tour a local juice packaging plant, which ties in with the school-wide study of Botany.
