If you want to reap rewards within a year, cultivate grain
If you want to reap rewards in ten years, grow trees
If you want to reap rewards for years to come, cultivate young minds
This famous Chinese proverb aptly describes LANXESS India’s endeavour towards supporting children’s welfare and education in the country. The leading specialty chemicals company has made a donation of Rs 3 lakhs to Aparajitha Foundation in support of the ‘Thalir Thiran Thittam’ (TTT) program. The sponsorship will benefit three schools in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, for a period of six years and enable students to learn 120 skills each.
The vision of TTT is to inspire students toward realizing their full potential and having a holistic approach to life. The life skills program will expose them to soft skills, right attitudes and constructive thinking, which are extremely important in life, but which are not covered by the regular curriculum. It aims to make the students feel more confident and better equipped to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life, thus leading to a more ‘Confident India’.
Dr. Joerg Strassburger, Managing Director and Country Representative of LANXESS India, said, “To be healthy and happy, one needs to make conscious choices in life. Students need more than just information to make choices; they need to know how to make decisions. It is our wish to see that every student has the opportunity to be trained with life skills that will enable them to make informed choices for a wholesome life.”
LANXESS India’s donation will also include electronic visual and audio learning kits, like TV and DVD projectors, which will facilitate the learning and teaching process.
As a part of Corporate Citizenship, LANXESS’ also manages Child Welfare and Education program in Mumbai by supporting NGOs like Save The Children India (STCI) and Bombay Teen Challenge (BTC) for a better education and healthy childhood. LANXESS’ support to these NGOs over the past years is an example of its commitment to help improve the needs of society by encouraging poor children to strive for a better future.
