San Antonio, Texas – Since its establishment in 1988, CareNet has managed to revamp and maintain the community’s over all health even without the actual nurse-patient or nurse-client interaction. CareNet’s Nurse Triage program has enabled millions of people nationwide to gain convenient access to myriad services of the healthcare system. The Nursing care provided by its Nurse Triage program was integrated in the overall healthcare operations system of CareNet to ensure that a lot of people will benefit from better health and good quality of life.
“I for one could say that we have competent and skillful Nurse Triage team composed of Registered Nurses who are very professional and labeled experts in their fields of specialization” said Linda Trafton, R.N., Vice President for CareNet’s Clinical Services. “They rely mostly on their therapeutic communication skills and acquired and stored knowledge of the disease process and the normal physiological growth and development of all age groups so as to accurately determine the exact signs and symptoms manifested by the client,” Trafton further added.
CareNet’s Nurse Triage program uses recommended codes of behavior with comforting attitudes, impeccable listening skills, and compassionate approach in rendering effective nursing care interventions. “I called CareNet once when my 4 year old son slipped on the floor and accidentally broke the glass on his hand. I was panicking and I didn’t know what to do when I saw the blood gush from the cut, but the triage nurse who answered my call was very patient and so calm and gave me a step by step instruction on how to stop the bleeding,” said Traci Donalds, a business woman and CareNet member.
CareNet’s Nurse Triage is able prioritize and ascertain which patient status requires immediate intervention by categorizing patient’s needs according to their complaints and manifested signs and symptoms. Categorizing patient’s needs involves the use of a tool known as algorithm. Algorithms are procedures that will assist the nurses in their thorough assessment of the client’s symptoms and other pertinent data associated with the client’s complaints. By using algorithms, nurses are prevented from jumping into conclusions as to what have caused the symptoms. “We try to see to it that we assess the symptoms thoroughly by asking our clients questions starting with the most severe down to the least acute of symptoms,” Hannah Wilson, Registered nurse, member of CareNet Nurse Triage team. “…in that way, we are able to ascertain the need for immediate intervention,” Wilson added.
The goal of CareNet’s Nurse Triage program is to bring the patient on suitable medical attention and provide medical support in a timely manner to prevent as well as reduce the likelihood of unnecessary visits to hospitals or doctor’s clinics. Part of Nurse Triage program is the Nurse Line wherein the skilled and proficient health advisors offer the community with health advices pertinent in achieving better health. With The Nurse Triage program, the clients of CareNet are able to access and receive cost-free yet quality healthcare services.
