The partnership is aimed at promoting the work of Indonesian authors and publishers on a global scale to supplement the recognition of being chosen as the Guest of Honour at next year’s Frankfurt Book Fair.

Included within the perimeters of the partnership will be a competition to find the best Indonesian work available in translation. The full details of the competition will be announced at the Indonesia Book Fair in November 2014, with the shortlist announced at the 2015 Jakarta Book Fair and the winner crowned at the 2015 Frankfurt Book Fair.

Working alongside Indonesia’s National Committee and the Frankfurt Book Fair, IPR License will be engaging in a comprehensive marketing campaign to promote the works of a range of Indonesian publishing houses and authors, alongside a significant presence at a number of key international events.

Tom Chalmers, Managing Director at IPR License, commented:

“It’s a real privilege for IPR License to be fully engaged in this key promotion of Indonesian publishing on such a global scale. As one of the most populous countries in the world, there is a wealth of writing talent and we are delighted to be promoting that talent from a growing creative sector to the international market.

“In a publishing world focused on increasing revenue streams via rights and licensing, works in translation are playing an ever increasing role for a variety of international publishers and we look forward to introducing them to many fantastic works from the key Indonesian market.”

Agus Maryono, Chairman of the National Committee, commented:

“We are excited to enter into this partnership with IPR Licence, as a new platform to promote Indonesia’s great wealth of content and talent”

“As the 4th biggest nation in the world, there is still little known about our market. With IPR’s commitment to promote Indonesia, we hope to open more doors for Indonesia’s international rights, licensing agreements and permissions to global market”
