Online PR News – 07-August-2010 – – Queensland’s Greg Carroll shot a blistering four under par 67 to claim top honours in the 2010 Lifestyle Asset Management Legends Pro-Am at Surfers Paradise Golf Club recently.

Featuring a prize pool of $15,000 and a strong field of more than 70 professionals from across Australian and New Zealand eager to improve their standing in the PGA Legends Tour Order of Merit, the Lifestyle Asset Management Legends Pro-Am was destined to provide some riveting competition.

Carroll’s round was punctuated by five birdies and just a solitary bogey, leaving him safely clear of fellow Queenslander Paul Bosa (69), well known golfing identities Lyndsay Stephen and Ossie Moore (70) and Kiwi visitor Jim Lapsley (70).

Current tour leader (as of 2/8/10) Rodger Davis finished in a tie for 11th position after posting a 73.

Tournament Director Mr Richard Holland was thrilled with the interest in the 2010 event, following on from a successful inaugural challenge last year.

“Given that this was only the second time the Surfers Paradise Golf Club has hosted a PGA Legends event, we were very pleased with the response from the professionals,” he said.

“With the generous support of Lifestyle Asset Management, we were able to increase the prize money from $10,000 to $15,000. The flow on effect from that increase was that the number of competing professionals rose from 48 in 2009, to a very strong field of 74 that included many well known names amongst the golfing fraternity.”

Mr Holland indicated that the event also provided a fantastic opportunity for amateur golfers to mix with the legends of past eras.

“Our members really enjoyed the chance to play alongside the professionals – the day was a huge success and set the benchmark for future tournaments,” he said.

“Excellent participation enabled us to also raise $3000 for children’s charity Paradise Kids.”
