09/08/2014

Visiting Asheville NC during Oct 3 to 12? If so, then come by MOUNTAIN MADE, a downtown art gallery to watch live art demos during American Craft Week.

Online PR News – 08-September-2014 – Asheville NC – Once again Mountain Made, an Asheville art gallery is proud to be a co-sponsor of American Craft Week (ACW).

As part of this 10-day event celebrating American handcrafted arts and crafts, the gallery will be hosting a series of live art demonstrations conducted by several Asheville artists.

So what exactly is American Craft Week?

According to AmericanCraftWeek.com, it is …”An opportunity to celebrate the wonders of American craft.”

American Craft Week is dedicated to increasing awareness of the integral role craftspeople and artists play in creating vibrant, thriving, and sustainable local communities and economies. As one craft artist put it, “this is the creative economy!”

“By taking part in the celebration, people are joining in on the trend of buying American-made products and shopping locally,” said American Craft Week founder and co-chair Diane Sulg.

“In a culture of mass production, we’re seeing a reverse trend in which people are seeking out handcrafted work that tells a story and opportunities to connect with the craft artists who make
it.”

Melinda Knies, owner of the Asheville art gallery, MOUNTAIN MADE says,
“The American Craft Week event is more than just a way to promote individual artists or small business retailers – it is also a way to share people's love of traditionally handcrafted art and a belief in the future American-made crafts…”

“…The American Craft Movement is a growing trend of discerning art lovers and collectors who want to beautify their homes and enrich their offices with locally produced crafts and handmade artwork."

"These art pieces reflect the unique creativity and quality craftsmanship of our American artisans, especially those here in Asheville.” she says.

Mrs. Knies goes on to say, “Not to mention it’s becoming cool again to buy things labeled 'Handmade in America'!"

As a participate in ACW, Mountain Made Gallery will host one of the 40+ special events scheduled in the Asheville area and though out six counties in Western North Carolina.
