“It’s so important to spend time with our kids. Children thrive when they have a caring adult in their lives, said Erin Antrim, Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme. “With this event we hope to encourage adults and youth to spend more time together and build a connection that will last a lifetime.”
Last year, more than 2,500 people attended the Club’s event, which engages the community, local businesses and service agencies as they host booths and provide resources for youth and their families. “Day for Kids” encourages positive interaction with kids and their families through fun, play, mentoring and enrichment activities.
The free event boasts a family-fun atmosphere, with games, prizes, face painting, jolly jumpers, a rock wall, a petting zoo, Gamez on Wheelz and pony rides, along with great food and more. There will be live stage entertainment, including the Voices of Hope Choir and a reptile show put on by the Reptile Family, Kealoha and Company will perform a Polynesian Floor Show and a cultural performance by the RMHS Folklorico. The Stars of Championship Wrestling from Hollywood will debut their live performance showcasing their top talent, and an exciting afternoon of Pro-wrestling. There will also be information booths where families can get information about services provided within the community and BGCOP will be providing free new memberships.
