When asked about her choice of the Gravenstein Apple line for gifting, Emma Mann, soap artisan and founder of Soap Cauldron explains, “We find that our customers really care that we are in the heart of wine country. Gravenstein apples have a truly rich and unique history. Precious and ephemeral Gravenstein Apples grow in a riot of rich reds, yellows and greens. First planted by Russian settlers at Fort Ross in 1820, these heirloom symbols are a rich part of Sonoma County’s history. Slow Food USA has declared these apples a heritage food in 2005 and we are excited to share this rich part of our local history with a larger audience.”

Gravenstein apples offer a fine balance of sweet and tart and were the source for apple sauce and dried apples for the U.S. troops in World War II. They are the hallmark of Sebastapol, California, where Soap Cauldron has its soap studio.
