In a climate of recent controversial crisis where there is often limited understanding, book delivers insight not found in police officer standard training
Online PR News – 16-August-2014 – Chicago, ILL – Newspapers, yes; but books typically don't get a second glance by police officers on duty. On Wednesday, August 13th, during the Walk for Peace, international Latino author/civic leader, Robert Renteria gave the Chicago Police Department a new reaching tool.
With books in officers' hands, pages started turning as they read Renteria's content designed to ensure safety, and prolong lives.
The author says he provides a road map for helping teens and at-risk youth avoid the gangs, drugs, and violence.
"What better way to help stop the trend of Chicago violence, crime, and murders and get everyone on board. We're excited to see the Chicago Police Department recognize Robert's books as the important intervention tools they are," says Fran Briggs of eMediaCampaigns! and publicist to the author, Robert Renteria.
More than 1500 parents and their children attended the Walk for Peace.
"The Barrio bilingual book series continues to play a significant role in the lives of those seeking solutions for ending violence," stated Renteria. "It’s changing the hearts and nature of current and former gang members."
Several young men have contacted the author personally and shared that his books led them to put down their tools of destruction, and pursue a healthy and productive lifestyle.
Robert Renteria offers teaching tools for schools and organizations working towards ending gangs and gun violence and encouraging them to lead healthy, balanced lives. The civic leader is available for national speaking tours.
