HMMAs expands Visual Media categories, including addition of Best Song & Best Score categories for Animated Films and Reality TV
Online PR News – 14-August-2014 – Hollywood, CA – On Tuesday, November 4, 2014, the 5th Annual Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMAs) will be held at The Fonda Theater in Hollywood. Showcasing the best and brightest in musical creation for visual media, the event will highlight the achievements of those who shape the worldwide musical media landscape. The 2014 HMMAs welcome back celebrity hosts including Oscar® nominated actor Eric Roberts, former Matchbox 20 member Adam Gaynor, acclaimed Director/Writer/Producer Andy Fickman and Earh, Wind & Fire’s Verdine White. Featured performances will include Singaporean pop-artist Wiltay and Swedish singer Viktoria Tocca, whose nominated song "We're Still Young" is #3 on the BillboardBiz Hot Singles Sales Chart. More performers and special guests to be announced.
This year, the HMMAs have expanded their Visual Media categories, with highlights including the addition of Best Song and Best Score categories for both Animated Films and Reality TV shows. Artists, composers and artist representatives are encouraged to submit through the HMMA’s website for their projects released in the 2014 calendar year. The field of entrants will be narrowed down to final nominees by the HMMA advisory board and selections committee with the winners voted on by approximately 100 music-media industry professionals comprised of music supervisors, studio and network music execs, composers and songwriters.
Among last year’s award winners, highlights were Henry Jackman for best original score for feature film (Captain Phillips); Jeff Beal for best original score for TV show/digital streaming series, (House of Cards); Robin Urdang for outstanding music supervision for film (Thanks for Sharing); Mark Wike for outstanding music supervision for television (CBS’ NCIS Los Angeles); Bear McCreary for original theme music for a TV show (AMC’s Walking Dead); Kathryn Gallagher for song in a feature film (“Damaged,” from Thanks for Sharing); David Schwartz, Mitch Hurwitz and Gabriel Mann for song in a TV show (“Getaway” from Arrested Development); Gary Malkin and Dan Alvarez for indie/doc/short score (Thrive: What On Earth Will It Take?); and Jeff Broadbent for best video game score (PlanetSide 2).
The event will be broadcasted across viral web networks and social media platforms worldwide. HMMA holds a worldwide presence across more than a dozen countries including the USA, Canada, UK, Spain, Italy, Australia, Russia, Germany, New Zealand, Switzerland, Turkey and more! Attendance for this event has escalated over the years as it has become the most sought after music industry event in Hollywood.
