“The Dark Secrets of Oliveto” is Giovannoni's first supernatural mystery novel, set in a fictional town inspired by his hometown of Healdsburg, California.
Online PR News – 17-March-2023 – Healdsburg, CA – Author Stefano A. Giovannoni is thrilled to announce the release of his first novel, “The Dark Secrets of Oliveto”. This is the first book in a supernatural mystery series set in a fictional town inspired by his hometown of Healdsburg in Northern California.
“Writers are told to write about what they know. I took it one step further and wrote about what I love,” explains Giovannoni. “My family has lived in Healdsburg for four generations, so my roots in this beautiful town are as deep as those of the Founders’ Tree, the regal olive tree planted in Oliveto’s grand piazza by its original settlers. Combined with my love of the Italian language and culture, having this series set in a fictional, Italianized version of my hometown was the perfect choice for this story of mystery, magic and adventure.”
He adds, “Even the home inherited by the main character, Nico Frantoio, from his grandmother “Nonna Chiara” shares characteristics of my own home where my nonna resided until her untimely death. Readers will have to decide for themselves which those might be.”
The sleepy little town of Oliveto is full of secrets. Magical beings coexist amongst unsuspecting humans. Spells and enchantments are the norm amongst certain members of the community. And someone, or something, is abducting members of its fairy community. When an unexpected and mysterious death in the family calls Nico home from college, he brings along his best friend Sofia for support. Their relaxing spring break visit suddenly turns into a wild adventure as they are thrust into a hidden world of magic that Nico never knew existed...or did he? Soon they are enlisted by a prominent member of the town’s fairy population to help find and stop the Oliveto Abductor, before another fairy is taken. Together Nico and Sofia must piece together all the clues as they learn about his family’s magical past, in order to solve the many secrets that Oliveto contains. Will they learn enough in time to survive?
