Cal Coast Academy Partners with Stop The Bleed to Help Eliminate Preventable Fatalities.
Online PR News – 17-October-2022 – Carmel Valley, California – Accidents can happen anywhere and are, unfortunately, a routine part of everyday life. E-bike injury rates are spiking, automobile accidents are more frequent, and electronic scooter trauma is on the rise. So, what is being done to help stop deaths due to uncontrolled bleeding?
Cal Coast Academy, a Carmel Valley-based college preparatory private school, is offering a solution to this increasing problem. On Thursday, October 20th, the school in partnership with Stop The Bleed will be offering a free, in-person, hands-on basic training course for all healthcare professionals within the San Diego County.
Mr. Chris Hoyne, Director of the Community Preparedness Program for North American Rescue, LLC., will be conducting the training which will include instruction on how to spot severe bleeding, the three quick actions to control serious bleeding, and how to properly pack a wound, apply pressure or use a tourniquet on a bleeding victim until emergency responders arrive on the scene.
“The idea is to educate and train our local community on how to recognize and prevent life-threatening bleeding,” says Jan Dunning, founder and principal of Cal Coast Academy. “Like most city’s, San Diego has been designed around the use of automobiles and two-wheeled transportation. For this reason, it is critical that we equip our community with the knowledge they need to stop the bleed”.
Since its launch in 2018, the ABC-Active Bleeding Control: Stop the Bleed program has trained more than 2.1 million people worldwide on how to stop bleeding in a severely injured person.
