A Q.T.A.P.I. Investor who wishes to remain anonymous has committed funds for the entirety of art production for the graphic novel.
Online PR News – 15-April-2022 – Seattle, WA – The pre-order campaign for Shuffle, a black and white superhero graphic novel being published by Arledge Comics, has received funding from an anonymous Queer Trans Asian Pacific Islander investor. The funding commitment covers all of the art production of the graphic novel, meaning the comic can begin production immediately.
The 80-page graphic novel is written by J.D. Boucher (Moonlighters, Cthulu is Hard to Spell), illustrated by George Kambadais (John Carter of Mars, covers for The Flash), lettered by Jodie Troutman (Lit Brick, The Gospel of Carol), and edited by Chuck Pineau (Belial, Essence House, CatDad and SuperMom). The graphic novel features David, AKA Shuffle, whose supersuit gives him a new power for each song it plays.
The investor included the following comment for publication:
“Funding independent art is something that’s very important to me. Getting a chance to make sure a story featuring both an AAPI lead and a trans lead character gets made is something I’ve very proud to be part of.”
David, who is also the titular superhero Shuffle, is of Guamanian descent. Megan, a trans girl, is David’s best friend and an aspiring game designer. The Shuffle graphic novel also features a full compilation soundtrack featuring queer artists like Stephan Alexander, Alonso Montero, Fatigue, nenci, and Elliott Boot. In addition to physical and digital copies of the comic, other limited run rewards will be available for pre-order. These include merchandise like t-shirts, print sets, and a tape cassette styled USB drive featuring select .mp3 and .flac lossless songs from the soundtrack.
