Running for Dakota County Sheriff, Leko started his career in 1997 as a deputy with the Dakota County Sheriff’s Office. In 2015, he was appointed as Sheriff Leslie’s Chief Deputy where he continues to serve. He oversees day to day operations of over 200 employees and a $25 million budget.
Leko is looking to replace the current sheriff, Tim Leslie who announced that he will not seek a third term.
Leko adds, "I will continue to raise the organizational profile and professional reputation by modeling a philosophy of both collaboration and continuous improvement in all our services and operations."
The primary will be held on August 10, 2022, with the election on November 8, 2022.
