Nonprofit START Launches Screen Sanity Group Study, Giving Parents an Accessible Resource for Navigating Screen-life Balance
Online PR News – 18-August-2021 – Kansas City, Mo. – START: Stand Together and Rethink Technology, a nonprofit dedicated to helping families raise happy, healthy kids in an increasingly digital world, is excited to announce its new parent and community resource, the Screen Sanity Group Study. The interactive handbook is broken down into 10 sessions that were specifically designed to spark face-to-face conversation with others in a casual group setting. Each session contains a video, discussion questions, take-home tips and a list of additional resources.
“Raising kids in this digital world is hard, but it’s even harder to do it alone,” says Krista Boan, Co-Founder of START. “Our goal is to bring parents and leaders together in a judgement-free zone where they can discuss the top technology issues facing families today. Topics in the group study cover every age and stage of digital parenthood, including screentime, smartphones, social media, video games and online predators.”
The Screen Sanity Group Study is intended for use at gatherings of all types—PTO groups, book clubs, neighborhood get-togethers or professional development meetings. Participants can purchase a printed copy on Amazon ($15) or download free digital copies at westartnow.org/screen-sanity-group-study.
The launch of the Screen Sanity Group Study comes on the heels of START’s successful Screen Sanity podcast. After hundreds of conversations with families and tech experts, Boan and fellow Co-Founder Tracy Foster discovered that parents were especially eager to get together in the wake of the pandemic, a period in history when screentime was at an all-time high.
“Our generation is the first to navigate screen-life balance with our kids, and parents are craving direction on how to develop healthy habits,” says Boan. “We believe that we are on the precipice of the greatest legacy we could leave the next generation—a world where kids are captivated by life, not screens, and communities come together to pursue lives well-lived.”
