SEAI is now offering grants for solar panels and battery systems to support the installation of Solar uses. It will help you to reduce your electricity bill and save you money.

According to the information on SEAI’s official website, “On average, a solar PV system can save between €200-€300 per year on your domestic electricity bill. This will make a big difference to your household running costs, allowing you to save for what really matters.

Installing a solar PV can improve the Building Energy Rating (BER) of your home. It will add value and help you achieve a higher price while selling your house. Also, generating your own renewable electricity is good for our environment.”

According to another source Clover Energy Systems, there is a criterion to avail of this offer:

1. You should be the owner of the property.
2. Your home was built before 2011
3. SEAI has not previously provided support for the solar PV system at that address.

One can get a maximum of €3,800 grant per home that will include:

- €700 per kW up to 2kw
- €700 per kW up to 4kw if the battery is installed
- €1000 additional grant for installing the battery

€1,700 - €2,500 per kWp is a typical payback estimate according to SEAI that will include upfront costs, maintenance of the panels, amount of sun falling on the panels, and the price paid for the electricity.

You can easily apply for the grant through a registered SEAI solar PV company. Get your solar panels installed from that company and make an application to SEAI for the grant offer. Grant offers are valid for eight months.
