Jamie Greene pledges record funding for local NHS services

Scottish Conservative candidate Jamie Greene for Cunninghame North pledges to deliver record funding for local NHS services

Online PR News – 09-April-2021 – North Ayrshire and Arran – Scottish Conservative and Unionist candidate Jamie Greene for Cunninghame North has pledged to deliver record funding for the NHS which would be enshrined in law under a ‘double lock’.

The party’s manifesto will commit to a ‘NHS escalator’ which would increase the annual budget for the NHS by £2 billion over the course of the next Parliament.

Jamie Greene says the pledge will mean NHS funding will rise by 2 per cent above inflation or UK Government Barnett consequential funding, whichever is higher.

Greene says that the plans by the Scottish Conservatives will give long-term security to NHS Ayrshire and Arran and allow them to protect local services in the future.

He added that Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP cannot hide from their record in charge over the last 14 years, having never met their promise on treatment times.

Jamie Greene said:

“Over the last year, our heroic frontline staff in NHS Ayrshire and Arran have gone above and beyond and deserve our utmost thanks.

“This pledge by the Scottish Conservatives would be enshrined in law to give NHS Ayrshire and Arran the required funding to tackle the backlog that has only grown during the pandemic.

“Under our plans NHS Scotland will get an extra £2 billion of funding a year by the end of the next Parliament.

“This would give our health board long-term security to ensure services are protected in the coming years and allow local people to access services on their doorsteps.

“The SNP have been in charge of our NHS for 14 years and our health board now has some of the highest waiting times in Scotland – residents deserve better.”
