Community Cooperative will host its popular fall annual fundraiser, Becoming Cosmopolitan: “Gone Country,” on Thursday, Oct. 14 in Fort Myers.
Online PR News – 06-April-2021 – Fort Myers, Fla. – Community Cooperative and co-sponsor FineMark National Bank & Trust will be hosting its popular fall annual fundraiser, Becoming Cosmopolitan: “Gone Country,” on Thursday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. at The Ranch Concert Hall in Fort Myers.
Due to the pandemic, the 2020 Becoming Cosmopolitan event was cancelled, even as the community’s need for food and support was greater than ever. Proceeds of the annual event support Community Cooperative’s women and children’s programs that work to end hunger and homelessness in Southwest Florida.
“We are excited to bring back our popular fundraising event, Becoming Cosmopolitan, which helps our dedicated team’s mission to eliminate hunger and homelessness in Lee County,” said Stefanie Edwards, chief development and operations officer for Community Cooperative. “While our event may have been cancelled last year, our services and the numbers of those coming to Community Cooperative for help have continued to steadily grow. We are counting on the generosity of the community and sponsors to help us feed our hungry neighbors of Southwest Florida as we look toward the holidays.”
Becoming Cosmopolitan 2021 will help fund these important Community Cooperative programs:
• Full Plates Project: An annual effort to make sure there are no empty plates on Thanksgiving by supplying meals at the soup kitchen and providing baskets to families that include frozen turkeys, canned veggies, stuffing mix, mashed potatoes, cornbread and more.
• Mobile Food Pantries: The ongoing effort to distribute food to anyone in need has tripled during the pandemic, and during the holiday months, that need traditionally increases.
• Holiday Outreach: A variety of services that support local families in desperate need of extra help. Through initiatives like Adopt-a-Family and Adopt-a-Senior, supporters can directly help individuals with gifts and warm wishes for the holidays.
