Siklus Mobile App Delivers Cheaper Refill Consumer Products to Indonesian Households

Siklus refill technology solutions reduce plastic waste and makes consumer foods more affordable for Indonesian consumers

Online PR News – 15-March-2021 – Jakarta, Indonesia – Siklus Refill (http://, an Indonesia-based startup solving economic and environmental issues through its refill technology solutions, today announced the launch of the Siklus Mobile App. The new mobile app is another key milestone in Siklus’ journey to reduce plastic waste and make consumer goods more affordable for low-income Indonesian consumers.

Indonesia is the second largest ocean plastic polluter in the world (Jambeck et al, 2015.) Every 20 minutes, the equivalent of a 10 tons truckload of plastic is dumped into the waters around Indonesia (World Bank, 2018). The most common items found on its beaches are plastic wrappers and sachets, small single-serving packages (Ocean Conservancy, 2017) that are not recyclable. Siklus seeks to provide an affordable solution to prevent plastic waste at the source.

FMCG products delivered direct to customers’ homes with the Siklus Mobile App:
With the Siklus Mobile App, consumers in Greater Jakarta, and across the rest of Indonesia in the near future, can now easily order and purchase FMCG products from their mobile device and have them delivered conveniently to their home. Once ordered, a bike equipped with a mobile refill system arrives and customers can refill their existing containers, or purchase reusable containers - without any single-use plastics. Products include detergents, dishwashing liquids, cooking oil, and many more daily necessities. Customers can order via the new Mobile App, as well as via WhatsApp and Instagram DM.

“The launch of the Siklus Mobile App helps optimize our supply chain and enhances the overall Siklus refill solution, allowing us to sell everyday consumer products without plastic packaging and at a lower cost,” explains Jane von Rabenau, CEO & Founder of Siklus. “Through our new app, mobile Warungs, and proprietary dispensing technology, we are generating cost-savings for Indonesians, providing valuable data for FMCGs to better serve customers, and bringing a new level of environmental benefits by eliminating the need for single-use plastic sachets.”

The Siklus Mobile App, which is currently available for download on the Google Play store, will have more features added during the course of the year. For consumers, features will include digital payments, and gamification, allowing consumers to track and gamify their savings, spending, and environmental impact. For Siklus’ partners, enhancements will include deeper customer analytics, targeted advertising, and a platform to launch new products.
