All about NEET UG 2021 exam
Online PR News – 13-March-2021 – Gurugram, Haryana, India – NEET UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) formerly known as the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) is an all India pre-medical entrance test for those who wish to pursue undergraduate medical (MBBS), dental (BDS) and equivalent AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, etc.) courses in government and private institutions and also, for those intending to pursue primary medical qualification abroad.This exam is organised by National Testing Agency(NTA) which provides the results to the Directorate General of Health Services under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and State Counselling Authorities for seat allocation.
NEET-UG is a single entrance test for admissions to more than 66,000 MBBS and BDS seats across India. From 2019, it has become a common entrance test for admission to medical colleges in India including AIIMS and JIPMER.
For session 2021, NEET UG is scheduled to be held on 01 August 2021 as per the official announcement made on 12 March.
Those who are seeking to apply, must fulfil the following National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Criteria:
Nationality: The exam is open to Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), Persons with Indian Origin (PIO) and Foreign Nationals citizens.
All Jammu & Kashmir candidates are eligible to apply under 15% All India Quotas only based on self-declaration.
Age limit: The applicants must have completed a minimum of 17 years of age on or before 31st December 2020 whereas Upper age limit is 25 years as on the date of examination with relaxation of 5 years for the SC/ST/OBC candidates.
Qualification: Candidates must have passed 12th or equivalent examination from any recognized board/central.
Mandatory Subjects: Candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology with English as a mandatory subject in their 12th class level with a minimum of 50% marks for General categories, 45% marks for physically handicapped (PH) & 40% marks for SC/ST category candidates in PCB group.
The exam will be held via offline mode for a duration of 03 hours (180 minutes). The question paper will be in English, Hindi, Tamil, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Oriya, Urdu, Marathi and Telugu languages. There are a total of 180 Multiple Choice Questions, 45 questions each from Physics and Chemistry, 90 questions from Biology. Each correct response fetches 4 marks and for each incorrect response 1 mark will be deducted.
NTA announces NEET UG Result via online mode on its official website. A cut off list is prepared category and course-wise according to which the candidates are alloted seats in the colleges. The cut off is released in the form of percentile and marks. Each college displays its own cut off list for admission. Those who get selected will be called for counselling for documentation and seat allotment purposes. Counselling is done by Medical Counselling Committee of the Directorate General of Health Services.
