11/25/2020

The British Florist Association has named family-owned business Direct2florist ‘National Flower Sender of the Year 2020’.

Online PR News – 25-November-2020 – Bolton, Manchester – Voted on by the public and industry peers, the prestigious award caps off a stellar few years for the Lancashire-based business, following on from wins as Service Provider of the Year in the preceding two years.

A Top Industry Award
The British Florist Association awards are considered one of the most important professional recognition and endorsements for the floristry industry in the UK. The award categories change every year, in order to maintain their relevancy and ensure that they serve to reflect the ever-evolving nature of the industry.

Following nominations for 2020, the online voting process ran from July to September, with the announcement of the winners across a wide range of categories being made (virtually) in October 2020.

Coming up against fellow nominees Interflora, Eflorist and Floom to take the title of National Flower Sender of the Year, Managing Director of Direct2florist Simon Stirling said, “We’re absolutely overwhelmed to win this award, especially given the competition we were up against.”

Mr Stirling went on to say that their success was all the more significant considering it was voted on by not only the public but also by respected industry professionals. “It makes the win even more special,” he said.

(Earlier in 2020, Direct2florist were also named the People’s Choice winner for Greater Manchester in the North West Family Business Awards.)

Commitment to Local Pays Off
The BFA’s National Flower Sender of the Year award recognizes Direct2florist’s commitment to delivering the highest quality, same-day floral products through local independent florists.

On receiving the award, Mr Stirling thanked everyone involved in the success of the company, citing the hard work, professionalism and dedication of the team as well as the loyalty and support of their customers. But he particularly highlighted the contribution of all the local florists around the country, saying, “Our brilliant florists consistently deliver the very best quality flowers day-in, day-out.”

The company’s business model allows customers to choose their flowers from a local florist in the recipient’s town, city or region. The benefits of this are two-fold: not only can the sender and receiver be assured they’re getting the freshest hand-delivered flowers, it also generates valuable ongoing business for local, independent florists. Contributing to the much-needed revenue of smaller local businesses is an invaluable part of keeping the UK’s iconic high street culture alive.

A Family Business Providing a Worldwide Service
As attested to by the growing number of industry nods, Direct2florist continues to deliver on their promise to provide the highest quality flowers from local florists, worldwide. Since their establishment in 2007, the company began and remains a family concern, building their considerable success on a bedrock of outstanding customer service and deep-rooted ethics.

Founded in response to the industry challenges of local florists having to compete with larger multi-nationals, and losing valuable profits through having to pay high commissions, the concept of a network of like minded independent florists able to send orders to each other around the country facilitated not only a better service, but also better value for money for the customers. Through the network, local florists are able to provide a higher quality (and more creative) service without eating so far into their own profits.

A Winning Philosophy
Every member of the Direct2florist network is bound to the company philosophies of:

- Unbeatable value
- Total customer control: customer chooses their florist based on real reviews
- Freedom for florists to use local products and their own creativity
- Supporting local: customers deal directly with local florists

From their humble beginnings, the innovative “customer-focused, value-for money approach” has seen huge demand and the business has grown exponentially, to now include more than ,500 independent florists in 14 countries around the world. By making the business of sending flowers around the world as easy as possible for customers, offering choice and fair and equitable opportunities for local independent florists, Direct2florist say they are “revolutionising” the industry.

Customer Endorsements Speak for Themselves
The BFA award for National Flower Sender of the Year is a professional validation of what the company’s customers continue to be more than happy to shout about.

The ‘star rating’ system allows customers to evaluate the service they’ve received from their provider and submit a rating from 1-5, and, along with comments, this is posted in full view of other potential customers.

This unique and expansive transparency, and the guarantee that 100% of the customer’s money goes to the florist, has resulted in the company receiving a raft of endorsements and reviews, including:

- More than 13,000 verified reviews and a 4.8/5 rating on Trustpilot
- Over 27,000 verified reviews and a 4.8/5 rating on Feefo
- Almost 67,000 service reviews and a 4.5/5 on their own Direct2florist website
