New York, New York (November 6, 2020) – The Coalition of Africa Healthcare (CAH) will host a Preview Launch to kick off “The Big Event: Africa Rise! Healthier and Stronger on November 6, 2020. CAH is committed to improving the fragile healthcare infrastructure of Africa which has been drastically exacerbated by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Preview Launch is a virtual benefit that takes place on December 5, 2020, with performers, entertainers and influencers from Africa, the Diaspora and the international community. The virtual event features Ricky Kej, Daphnae, Estelle, Toulmide, Master KG, Makhadzi ,Nomcebo, Zander Zakusa and performers from the Broadway hit musical, Tina – The Tina Turner Musical. The first of its kind, the event is conceived by concerned NGOs to improve access to healthcare for the most remote, rural, under-served communities in Africa. Donations go towards purchasing and equipping mobile clinics, upgrading or building district health centers in underserved communities, and providing up-to-date technology for diagnostic testing and facilitating telemedicine.

The November 6 Preview Launch features music sensation, Master KG, known for his song, ‘Jerusalema” which has captured the imagination of fans worldwide, sharing his commitment to the “Africa Rise Healthier and Stronger” initiative. Master KG is joined by Ambassadors of African countries to the United States, directors of health clinics in Africa, members of civil society, stars from sports and entertainment, and influencers, who care deeply about the health and welfare of the African peoples. Special remarks will be given by H.E. Sidique Abou-Bakarr Wai, Ambassador of Sierra Leone to the United States, H.E. Mahamadou Nimaga, Ambassador of Mali to the United States, and Dr. Mmamontsheng Dulcy Rakumakoe, CEO of the QuadCare Medical Centers in South Africa.

The hosts of The Preview Launch, the Coalition of African Healthcare, have a well- established history of spearheading health campaigns on behalf of Africa and the Diaspora, including an awareness-raising concert at the United Nations Headquarters in New York about the 2014-25 Ebola outbreak in West Africa, and recently a community- based program in the Democratic Republic of the Congo to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

“In these troubled time, the rate of maternal deaths and infant deaths still being experienced in the continent of Africa should be of concern to everyone, Africans and non-Africans alike,” says Gordon Tapper, Founder of Give Them A Hand Foundation and Executive Producer of “The Big Event: Africa Rise!, adding that “Access to health care is essential for all people, to reduce maternal and infant deaths and also deaths from water-borne diseases. Presentations on the Preview Launch webinar will highlight the importance of the “Africa Rise! Healthier & Stronger” Initiative and the harsh realities of accessing healthcare in rural communities in Africa with limited resources, given an average of only 1 doctor per 10,000 people, only 40 nurses and midwives per 10,000 persons, and about 10 hospital beds per 1,000 people.
