Officers elected are: president: Rita Elizabeth Horiguchi; vice president: Laura Hill; Secretary: Elena Danielson; Treasurer: Janice Toyoshima.

The auxiliary will assist Opera San Jose in all manner of activities such as greeting audience members, promoting the company's productions, and carrying out colorful fund-raising events. Saturday's meeting formally re-establishes the original Friends of Opera San Jose, a group which provided pivotal support to Irene Dalis in the formation of the opera company. The original group, disbanded in 1989, was beloved to many in the company's early years. It is planned that the group will play a similar pivotal role as general manager Larry Hancock takes helm as general director from a retiring Ms. Dalis.
