Evan Butterfield Receives IEEE Computer Society Harry Hayman Award

IEEE CS Director of Products & Services Evan Butterfield has received the Harry Hayman Award for Distinguished Staff Achievement

Online PR News – 06-June-2014 – Los Alamitos, CA – LOS ALAMITOS, Calif., 4 June 2014 – IEEE Computer Society Director of Products & Services Evan Butterfield has received the Harry Hayman Award for Distinguished Staff Achievement for fostering a climate of innovation in publishing, product development, conference services models, and partnerships with IEEE.

Butterfield has led the IEEE Computer Society's conferences, publications, and education operations since 2008, in addition to holding responsibilities for administrative services and facility support. The volunteer-nominated award, which comes with a plaque and a $5,000 honorarium, is given to an employee who has a long and distinguished record of providing exemplary service.

Before joining IEEE Computer Society, Butterfield was Vice President of Product Development and Publisher for Kaplan Professional in Chicago. He also taught undergraduate English classes at George Washington and American universities.

"I thank the volunteers who nominated me for this award," he said. "I am really blessed to have a phenomenal team in products and services."

He holds a JD from DePaul University in Chicago, a master's degree in English, a bachelor's degree in history and English at the University of Illinois at Urbana, and a postgraduate certification in education technology from the University of Southern Queensland in Australia. He has written several articles and co-authored a CS ReadyNote on copyright law and intellectual property. In addition, his photography has been published and exhibited internationally.
