Online PR News – 20-May-2014 – Chicago – Last week, Creative Eye Workshops™ by Mike MacDonald Photography announced “A Night on the Town,” a new series of adult photography outings for capturing the excitement and enchantment of Naperville and other Chicago suburbs after dark.
During the light of day, there is little discrepancy between what we see and what the camera exposes. But, in the darkness, under the lights, a new world is revealed by the camera. There are colors and illuminations that exist, but our conscious survival-oriented brain attempts to ignore, like reflections on wet pavement or the red or golden glow of seemingly white street lights. The passage of time can also be photographically conveyed through the accentuation of movement as blurry revelers celebrate the night life and streaks of lights form as cars and trains pass. “A Night on the Town—Naperville” will experientially and photographically explore all of these things and more.
The first Naperville “A Night on the Town” photo outing will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 in downtown Naperville, where students will photograph the luminous Dandelion Fountain, The Riverwalk and its covered bridges, and the excitement of the downtown area. At the start of this two-and-a-half-hour class, the instructor will provide students with important photography tips for shooting at night, which includes how to set their cameras as well as creative ideas. Then, as the sky darkens, students will be lead around town, making discoveries and shooting as they go.
In the days or weeks following the outing, students are invited to show off their photographs at an optional photography feedback session, where they can reunite with new found friends and get valuable feedback about their photos.
A DSLR camera is required for this event, along with a working knowledge of how to operate the camera in Manual exposure mode.
