Education for Development Foundation is inviting the public to support less fortunate students until the end of May 2014.
Online PR News – 21-May-2014 – 19 May 2014/ Bangkok – Schools around Thailand have opened this week but unluckily for 3,477 less fortunate Thai students under the support of Education for Development Foundation, they will have to wait until supports from the public come in by the end of May at the latest.
Bussarakham Kotama, a Mattayom 5 scholarship student from Rajprachanukroh 50 School in Khon Kaen Province, believes that education gives people wisdom to define their own destiny and the reason she applied for EDF scholarship program was to further her high school studies. She has received EDF scholarship since 2010 up to the present.
Unchuleeporn Akkarabutr, a Mattayom 1 student of Baan Pueng School in Srisaket province says: “I have never given up despite all the difficulties I had faced. I will try to do my best to study for a better future.”
Thanawut Kaewkhum, another Mattayom 1 student of Baan Naa Kor school in Loei province, says: “During weekends I will help my parents in the farm. They make me realise how tough life can be. I am told to be patient and save money.”
Wanun Paayom, another Mattayom 1 student of Baan Songkorn school in Mukdaharn province adds: “I live with my mother. I have a dream to be a teacher when I grow up in order to apply the knowledge I have learned into improving and developing my province.”
Lattapol Kaewpun, a Mattayom 1 student of Baan Noanmuang Taaplabpla school in Mahasarakarm province says: “My mother told me that education is something that both the poor and the rich can have.”
For school year 2014 EDF Foundation has raised a total number of 5,999 scholarships, of which 4,527 are for lower secondary school, 586 scholarships for the upper secondary, 158 scholarships for students with disabilities and 728 scholarships for those orphaned by the unrest in the three deep-south provinces of Thailand. The foundation needs additional donations to cover all the needs of 3,477 candidates in the waiting list for the school year 2014.
