Online PR News – 19-May-2014 – Naples, FL – Easter Seals Florida received an $8,200 donation from residents of VeronaWalk that will support Easter Seals Camp Lily - summer day programs in Fort Myers and Naples that combine recreation and learning for children with autism spectrum disorders and related disabilities. The residents of VeronaWalk, a Naples community, raised the money through their annual fundraiser that supports children’s charities in Southwest Florida.
The goal of Camp Lily is to provide a bridge for continuity of learning from the ten-month school year through the weeks of summer. Camp Lily provides student-centered learning and utilizes Applied Behavior Analysis techniques. Attendees build social skills through center and community-based activities including trips to the beach and water parks, bowling, museums and the zoo.
“We are so appreciative of the support of the residents of VeronaWalk,” said Robyn DuCharme, Vice President of Programs, Easter Seals Florida. “Their financial contribution makes our camp affordable for families with children on the autism spectrum. Camp is particularly important for children and teens with autism as it allows them to develop positive behaviors and social skills during the summer months while at the same time engaging in fun, age-appropriate activities.”
“Our residents and visitors opened up their hearts and wallets to help those less fortunate in our community,” said Diane Brueggeman, producer and director of the fundraising performance. “In total we raised more than $24,000 to support children in our community.”
