Online PR News – 11-May-2014 – Saratoga CA – Former Planning Commissioner and Neighborhood leader, Rishi Kumar is kicking off his campaign for Saratoga City Council with a meet and greet with friends, family and supporters on Saturday, May 10 at the home of Minnie and Rama Shukla.
"After a talking with my family and friends, I am announcing my candidacy for City Council. I'm driven by a desire to continue the work of the late Council Member Susie Nagpal. Her vision and values of community unification and building a vibrant community that all our residents can enjoy and be proud off inspires me to take this step.” Kumar said.
Susanne Karlak, from Kumar’s neighborhood said, “We know Rishi as a neighbor and an advocate for community and Saratoga. He finds time to give his best to so many events and activities ranging from social to political”
Kumar, a Golden Triangle Saratoga home owner is an accomplished Silicon Valley executive. He led several innovative initiatives during his tenures at IBM and Cisco. Currently he is General Manager at Imaginea Technologies. Rishi went to Engineering school at the University of Bombay for his Bachelors and engineering graduate school at the University of Connecticut.
Kumar, started Saratoga’s first neighborhood watch, chairs the Saratoga Care Foundation and is the founder of Saratoga’s Got Talent. His talent show promotes local youth and brings the community together. He has also worked to raise much-needed funds for Saratoga Senior Center and Saratoga Education Foundation. Kumar is currently serving on Governor Brown’s UC Regents selection committee.
Kumar has also led several city improvement initiatives like neighborhood road paving, better street signage, flashing speed check meters and has also launched weekend community gathering initiatives to encourage new residents to explore and support the Saratoga downtown and community.
