The all-new 2015 Lincoln MKC is set to grace showrooms early this spring.
Online PR News – 24-April-2014 – London/Ontario – London, Ontario, April 12th 2014 – The all-new 2015 Lincoln MKC is set to grace showrooms early this spring. A completely new entry in the Mid-Size Luxury Utility segment, the MKC is sure to set a new standard of Luxury.
The second creation since the rebirth of the Lincoln Motor Company, a lot is riding on the success of the MKC. The first in this line of vehicle was the 2014 Lincoln MKZ which has already been named as JD Power’s “Most Appealing Mid-Size Luxury Sedan”. The MKC will surely not disappoint. The MKC will more than just compete, it will change the way people think about Lincoln.
Las Vegas Speedway
I was fortunate enough to spend the last 3 days in Las Vegas for the international introduction of the MKC to North American Dealers. It began with a visit to the Las Vegas Speedway to put the MKC through its paces. Now it’s highly unlikely that you will ever enter turn 1 at LV Speedway at 115 Miles per Hour (190 KM/H) but if you should, I can tell you that the MKC exudes complete confidence to the driver. The 285 HP 2.3 Litre twin turbo pulls hard and strong right off the line to top speed that should be reserved for the Mustang GT. Due to extreme NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) engineering one could carry on a conversation at these speeds as if you were sitting still. In the Acura RDX, one was required to yell in to be remotely heard. While driving the Acura, one dare approach the speeds of the MKC, it was a handful holding the corners at half the speed of the Lincoln.
After a few hot laps at the hands of a professional driver we took a minute to compare the MKC to some of the current entries in the Luxury SUV Class. The Acura RDX, the Mercedes GLK, and Audi Q5. Immediately apparent was that none of the German entries even offered remote start at any price, something that in our climate seems almost a given these days. The MKC offers an app for your smart phone that will allow you to preprogram the starting of your vehicle from anywhere in the world as long as you have cell service. Drivers can start, lock, unlock, and locate the vehicle as well as set interior temperature gauges. Drivers can also use the app to call for roadside assistance, monitor the vehicles fuel levels and battery status. The best part is its free! It was evident once inside that the quality appearance did not end with the exterior execution. The seats wrap you in buttery soft bridge of weir leather and all of the touch points in MKC are covered in soft touch materials.
Technology provides confidence
The technology is beyond any comparison, active grill shutters that close at high speed to improve fuel economy, Park-out assist which helps drivers out of a tight parking spot should someone get to close, or lane keeping which keeps the vehicle heading in a straight line should the driver’s level of alertness dropping below a given threshold.
The MKC also offers Blind spot information system that constantly monitors the blind spots of the vehicle with radar sensors, and a class exclusive cross traffic alert, which detects traffic as the vehicle backs up from a parking spot.
The Lincoln MKC will start just under $40,000 CND ( Slightly below its nearest competitors ) and offer three trim levels. Standard is the Continuously Controlled Dampening (CCD). Drivers can use the Lincoln Driver control to select from Sport, Normal or Comfort settings. The system then constantly monitors the road, and the suspension reacts on average within 20 milliseconds, providing a smooth ride and enhanced handling. The control is evident when navigating the short infield track at Las Vegas Speedway. While most of the competitions tires were screeching for traction in the high speed turns, the MKC tracked true through the tight corners. At one point, this driver entered with a little too much speed for even the MKC, instead of squealing and getting all out of shape, the MKC drifted gently and allowed me to calm things down with a little over steer correction. Vin Diesel would have been proud.
The MKC will greet owners with an exclusive Approach Detection, which senses when an owner is near by illuminating “Welcome Mats” on the ground next to both front doors.
Simultaneously, headlamps, tail lamps, and door handles glow with soft lighting tuned to complement the vehicles exterior colour.
The Lincoln MKC production is planned to begin in the second quarter of 2014 at the Louisville Assembly plant in Louisville, Kentucky. As a special incentive, advanced orders for the MKC will receive a special complimentary service package and additional rebates.
