One More Page Books Hosts Freedom in Creation Fundraiser, Author Visits, & Writing Panel Discussion

Local Arlington, VA indie bookstore hosts a fundraiser, wine tasting, book club discussions, visits by authors Jeffrey Clement, Jenny Milchman, Kathryn O’Sullivan, and Toby Devens, among others.

Online PR News – 19-April-2014 – Arlington, VA – One More Page Books, an independent, neighborhood-oriented bookstore, announces its May 2014 events. All events are free and open to the public.

On Tuesday, April 29th at 7 pm, One More Page Books hosts a fundraiser for Freedom in Creation, an organization founded by Andrew Briggs to empower youth and women with art as therapy and entrepreneurship education, enabling them to bring vital resources to their communities. On Friday, May 2nd at 6:30 pm, One More Page hosts a wine tasting with another round of the store’s popular Blind Date with a Book.

On Saturday, May 3rd at 7 pm, Jeffrey Clement visits the store to discuss and sign his memoir “The Lieutenant Don't Know: One Marine's Story of Warfare and Combat Logistics in Afghanistan.”

Phinesse Demps, LFP Media and Love Clone Publishing host a Books, Wine, Dessert & Conversation Book Club at One More Page on Sunday, May 4th at 2 pm, featuring several area writers discussing the process of writing, editing, finding a publisher and more. Authors Anthony L. Leslie, Jr., Onyx Linthicum, DeBora M. Ricks, Shawn Durham, and Caprice Smith will explore the theme of relationships. Also on Sunday, May 4th at 3 pm, One More Page Books and Arlington Central Library host the panel discussion Challenges and Changes in Writing and Publishing Fiction, moderated by Rita Kempley, former Washington Post movie critic and debut author of the sci-fi novel “The Vessel.” The panel, comprised of traditionally published authors and those who are self-published, features Alma Katsu, whose final installment of the compelling Taker trilogy, "The Descent," released in January; Jenny Milchman, author of the suspense novels "Cover of Snow" and the forthcoming "Ruin Falls”; and Steve Piacente, former award-winning journalist and self-published author of the novels "Bella," and "Bootlicker." The discussion takes place at Arlington Central Library, 1015 N. Quincy Street, Arlington, VA 22201.

On Monday, May 5th at 7 pm, Jenny Milchman returns to One More Page to discuss and sign “Ruin Falls,” the highly anticipated follow-up to her critically acclaimed “Cover of Snow.”

On Wednesday, May 7th at 7 pm, One More Page hosts a launch party for Kathryn O'Sullivan's "Murder on the Hoof," her sequel to "Foal Play."

Toby Devens visits One More Page on Thursday, May 8th at 7 pm to share from her debut novel “Happy Any Day Now.”

On Thursday, May 15th, at 7 pm, award-winning author Hilary Davidson visits the store to share from her first stand-alone novel, “Blood Always Tells,” a twisted tale of love, crime, and family gone wrong.

Award-winning Marie Bostwick promotes “Apart at the Seams,” her newest installment in the Cobbled Court Quilt series, on Saturday, May 17th, at 4 pm. Games and prizes, a drawing and goodie bags with materials provided by Cherrywood Fabrics and Arifil Threads will also be offered.

One More Page hosts a Young Adult Author Panel on Sunday, May 18th at 3 pm featuring S.E. Green, debut author of “Killer Instinct;” Anne Blankman, author of the historical thriller “Prisoner of Night & Fog;” and Kristin Bailey, author of “Legacy of the Clockwork Key,” the first installment in her Secret Order series.

Local authors Kathleen Wheaton (“Aliens & Other Stories”) and Robert Herschbach (“Loose Weather”) visit the store on Monday, May 19th at 7 pm to discuss their works.

On Wednesday, May 21st at 7 pm, Peter Van Buren discusses and signs “Ghosts of Tom Joad: A Story of the #99%,” his new novel based on the social and economic changes in America between WWII, the decline of the blue collar middle class and the rise of the Working Poor.

Best-selling author Sarah Pekkanen returns to One More Page on Thursday, May 22nd at 7 pm to share from her latest release, “Catching Air,” a novel about two married couples who pursue their dream of opening a bed-and-breakfast in small-town Vermont.
