Online PR News – 16-April-2014 – Des Moines, IA – Des Moines, IA - Plastic surgeon Dr. David Robbins is performing the LazerLift™, a minimally invasive technique to restore youthful face and neck contours from the inside out. Dr. Robbins says that sagging skin and the loss of youthful facial contours can make a person look older, tired and feel less attractive. Common fixes usually require a scalpel and more invasive face lift surgery to put things back in their place, but the LazerLift ™ offers an easier alternative that can benefit many patients. Dr. Robbins will appear on KCCI 8 News At Noon on Monday, April 21 to show how the new procedure works.

“Women and men can now look years younger without the need for scalpels or stitches,” says Dr. Robbins. “Downtime is cut to a minimum, and the procedure takes only about 30 minutes. The LazerLift™ uses laser technology in a new way to achieve maximum results with a minimally invasive procedure.
“Laser treatments which apply external energy can on do so much, and until recently the only way to lift and tighten the face and neck adequately was through more invasive surgery,” says Dr. Robbins. “The LazerLift™ is performed with a thin fiber-optic laser device that tightens skin safely and effectively. The procedure is done with the patient awake, with local anesthesia.”
Dr. Robbins begins by making three tiny entry points for the tiny fiber-optic laser wire, each less than 1mm in width, or about the thickness of the tip of a ballpoint pen. One entry point is made under the chin and one behind each ear. After a local anesthetic is introduced to numb the areas the fiber-optic wire is inserted through each of the entry points. Laser light is directed to the fat and water in the skin and heats the dermis (the deeper layer of the skin) while precisely melting fat. Then a thin tube, or “cannula” is used to remove small amounts of fat. “The treatment spurs new collagen growth and promotes noticeable skin tightening,” says Dr. Robbins.
The process works in just one treatment session and causes minimal bruising, discomfort and virtually no downtime. “Best of all, the skin will continue to tighten over the next few months as collagen is formed, increasing the effect,” says Dr. Robbins.
