Special Travelers, LLC Launches its new menu of services in honor of
Autism Awareness Month
New York, New York, March 27, 2014, Special Travelers, LLC provides unique travel and support services to children and adolescents with autism and other developmental disabilities. Our goal is to bridge the gap between learning in the classroom and living in the real world. While other educational and travel sites offer tips and recommendations, Special Travelers offers distinctive accompaniment and individualized support.
We accompany children and adolescents with special needs on family vacations, events and day trips; facilitate community-based experiences such as shopping at a grocery store or eating in restaurants; and create effective home-based systems for improving daily routines, leisure activities and basic responsibilities. We also offer consultation to parent organizations, agencies and businesses.
Meghan Mulvenna, Special Travelers LLC founder, has worked with persons with Autism and other developmental disabilities for 20 years and understands the challenges of integrating this population into communities and everyday experiences. Meghan is confident that “if services for individuals do not begin to realistically apply what is taught in our classrooms to the real conditions of life, we will face an entire population who are not only lacking a quality of life, but who will remain dependent on others.”
Travel services are available to families throughout the east coast, while home and community-based supports are presently limited to Maryland, Virginia and D.C. More information can be found on our website, http://special-travelers.org/
Special Travelers LLC is rooted in the vision that individuals with special needs deserve and are capable of a quality of life, rich in experiences and skills which they can contribute to society. Meghan has advocated for the community with Autism as far as Southeast Asia and West Africa. Special Travelers LLC aims to constantly recognize and serve these growing populations and encourage their unique participation in our world.
