Online PR News – 16-July-2010 – – Enthusiastic members of the Grosvenor Garden Centre team have taken part in the final abseil from the iconic Liver Building in aid of their nominated charity, Claire House Children’s Hospice.

Raising more than £1000, James Mabon, Grosvenor Garden Centre's Young Horticulturist of the Year and Mark Jones, an Advisor in the Food Department, took the plunge from the 90m tall building on Saturday 10th July, together with Harrison Nolan who followed up his fundraising success on behalf of Grosvenor Garden Centre during the recent 15 mile Wirral Coastal Walk for Claire House.

Raising more than £50,000 in total, the event marked a record breaking single fundraising event in the history of the hospice.

"I can’t thank James, Mark and Harrison enough - their efforts on behalf of Grosvenor Garden Centre and everyone else who took part on Saturday, will make a considerable difference to us here at Claire House. Thank you to everybody who abseiled and their supporters for making it such a day to remember," commented Laura Breen, Area Fundraiser, Claire House

"The best bit was the view looking out over the River Mersey and being so close to the legendary Liver Birds themselves," said Mark, with all three agreeing the worst part was the initial climb over the parapet!

"What an experience! Once we got going, it was exhilarating and we are delighted to have raised so much money for Claire House," said James.
