Online PR News – 18-March-2014 – Atlanta – Seth Chandlee, co-owner of Chandlee and Sons Construction Company, recently finished the ground-up construction of the BIG SKY bar on Cains Hill Place, just a few blocks west of Roswell Road. The grand opening was held Saturday, February 22, 2014 with lots and lots of people in attendance including Seth and friends.
This new addition in Buckhead is designed with a mountain high theme incorporating many hand crafted finishes such as stacked stone columns, walls covered in patterns of reclaimed woods, back lighted onyx stone countertops in the bars, and a mural painted by a local Atlanta artist. To invite the sunlight inside all year long several large glass garage-type doors were installed, and when the warm weather returns to Georgia they will be raised to let in the southern breezes.
Seth Chandlee and his partner, Jim Chandlee, were very dedicated to the construction of this custom project that began with the demolition of a building on the site. Preparation of the site and the installation of the underground utilities followed. After the concrete foundation was poured construction began on the two story walls of concrete block. The support structure of the building also included the placement of many steel girders and huge lumber beams. Once the frame of the building was in place work began to enclose the building including getting the structure under roof. The exterior surfaces included more steel and wood, stucco, stacked stone, large glass windows, and several garage-type doors.
Since the design included several different uses of hand crafted materials it took a few months to complete. The demolition began at the end of August and the building was ready for occupancy in early February. In early December 2013 Seth utilized fast track construction methods to move the construction process along faster once the building was under roof. Then Seth doubled his efforts with a 15-day two shift fast track build to expedite the hand crafted processes and get the kitchen and public restrooms completed. The result of all the planning, hard work and the talent of the craftsmen, artists, designers and the construction team of Chandlee and Sons is a beautiful, inviting new place in north Atlanta to enjoy the company of friends and family.
