Itâ€™s time to make your startup take off! The submissions for the second round of acceleration at SEED - Startups and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development - started January 13th. The program, initiated by the Government of Minas Gerais, will select more 40 national and international startups to six months of acceleration in Belo Horizonte, city that hosts one of the largest innovation ecosystems of Brazil, known as San Pedro Valley. More than 1,300 startups from 32 countries competed for the seats in the first round of the program, which started in December 2013. The application deadline runs until February 3rd.
Among the many advantages, SEED offers for each winner seed capital up to R$ 80,000, equity free; mentorship tailored with exponents of the entrepreneurship scene; entrepreneurial training through workshops, courses and speeches; inspiring coworking space and connection with global community of entrepreneurs.
Interested startups must have between two and three members, older than 18 year, with availability to live in Belo Horizonte during the acceleration period. The program seeks entrepreneurs with impactful ideas and daring projects that can contribute to the development of local innovation ecosystem. To participate, applicants must access the site seed.mg.gov.br to get the public notice, the model form of participation and apply for the program.
The first round of projects attracted many countries, with repercussion in national and international media. Minas Gerais' Government is investing more than R$ 9 million in the program. In few time of acceleration, eight projects were selected to attend the Campus Party Brazil 2014, considered one of the biggest events of innovation, science, culture and entertainment in the digital world.

Programs like SEED offer legal, financial and structural incentives for fostering an entrepreneurial culture in our territory. This attracts even many foreign projects that accomplish our favorable ecosystem for its developmentâ€ť, says AndrĂ© Barrence, CEO of the Office of Strategic Priorities of the State Government, responsible for the program.
