New York, NY January 27, 2014 -- Real EyeD, LLC, a spin-off of INSCATECH, a food fraud detection and prevention firm, has announced today the release of its unique patent pending scratch-off bar code label to detect and verify product authenticity by consumers via their smart-phone. Originally designed to protect consumers from purchasing fake bottles of alcohol, the Real EyeD™ scratch-off label can be affixed to almost any package or article to give consumers the assurance that the product that they are about to purchase or consume is authentic.

Consumers are the ultimate victims of counterfeit products receiving poor-quality goods at an excessive price and can be exposed to health and safety dangers. Over time, consumers lose confidence in that manufacturer’s brand name, causing irreparable damage to the brand.
Addressing consumer needs, the Real EyeD™ solution provides in two simple steps, a tool consumers can use to determine if a product is real or fake. Just prior to purchase, consumers can remove the scratch-off label with a coin or other abrasive object to reveal a QR code. With use of any QR code scanning smart phone application, the consumer can scan the code and get an immediate response from Real EyeD’s central database as to whether the product is authentic.
