The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) has published the 13th edition of its Restricted Substances List (RSL) which covers apparel, footwear and home textiles.
Online PR News – 21-November-2013 – Hong Kong – The list identifies chemicals and other substances restricted in consumer products that are regulated through US governmental regulation or law, as well as the European Union’s REACH program and other national regulations.
The AAFA RSL provides the US apparel and footwear industry with a variety of tools to help make optimum sourcing decisions and assists the industry in creating a safer and sustainable supply chain. The latest AAFA RSL Release 13 was published with the major changes outlined in Table 1 within the latest SafeGuardS bulletin (http://newsletter.sgs.com/eNewsletterPro/uploadedimages/000006/sgs-safeguards-19913-us-aafa-updates-restricted-substances-list-release-13-a4-en-13.pdf).
Changes on the Restricted Substances List from Release 12 to Release 13:
- Updated the REACH SVHC Candidate List in Appendix I - Reporting
- Updated information for Korea Safety Quality Mark Act (KC Mark) in Appendix II – Labeling
- Updated the chemical list of Non-regulated substances on the AFIRM RSL Guidance in Appendix III – AFIRM Extra
