Minato International | BMW Unveils Hybrid Supercar In Frankfurt.

Minato International: BMW unleashes i8 hybrid supercar stablemate to i3 electric town car and performance rival to Tesla’s Model S.

Online PR News – 11-November-2013 – Germany – Minato International says that it expects German luxury car maker BMW to enjoy “considerable sales success” with its much-vaunted i8 supercar which it unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Though the production car will look more refined than the concept vehicle that excited fans, its lines ensure that it remains aesthetically distinguished from other vehicles.

Minato International technology analyst said, “This car represents a very real challenger to Tesla’s Model S insofar as it is perceived as more of a sports car rather than a Grand Tourer like the Model S.”

The car is destined to go on sale later on this year and boasts 357bhp courtesy of a combination of a 1.5 liter, three-cylinder turbocharged engine delivering 228bhp and a 129bhp lithium-ion battery powered motor. It will reportedly accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.4 seconds and power on to a limited top speed of 155mph.

BMW has invested significant sums of money in the development of both the i8 and the i3 town car and, in July, warned investors that 2013 would see profits stagnate as slowing activity and economic growth in both Europe and Asia took their toll on revenues.

“BMW‘s performance since the depths of the recession has been stellar and we expect shareholders to continue to support the stock despite any potential stagnation in profit growth in 2013,” concluded the “Minato International” analyst.

The i8 will go on sale in late 2013 and is expected to wear a sticker price close to $150,000.
