The National Association for Gun Rights joins the Florida Citizens Alliance in supporting the Florida Second Amendment Preservation Act.
Online PR News – 01-November-2013 – Fort Myers, FL – The Florida Citizens Alliance announce that they have been joined in their support of the Florida Second Amendment Preservation Act by the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR), a pro-gun group with over 3.5 million members nationwide.
This bill would protect individual rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment by declaring any federal acts, laws, orders, rules, and regulations in violation of this amendment to be invalid in the state of Florida, and includes strong penalties for noncompliance.
Both organizations support strong 10th Amendment legislation to defend the right to keep and bear arms from unconstitutional federal mandates.
The Florida Second Amendment Preservation act states, “the Legislature of the State of Florida declares that all federal acts, laws, orders, rules, regulations in violation of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution of the United States are not authorized by the Constitution of the United States and violate its true meaning and intent as given by the Founders and Ratifiers, and are hereby declared to be invalid in this State, shall not be recognized by this State, are specifically rejected by this State, and shall be considered null and void and of no effect in this State.” This is a non-compliance bill that prohibits the use of Florida resources to aid federal agents in the enforcement of federal acts that violate Second Amendment rights. The US Supreme Court upheld this concept when it overturned the Brady Bill (US Vs. Prinz, 1997).
“With the support of nation-wide organizations like the National Association for Gun Rights, the Florida Citizens Alliance is actively working to garner legislative support for the bill across the state of Florida so that we can see this bill enacted into law in the Florida 2014 legislative cycle,” says Keith Flaugh of the Florida Citizens Alliance.
In addition to advocating for the bill across Florida, Florida Citizens Alliance is also reaching out to National Rifle Association to support or “not oppose” in ten other states that have passed similar 2nd Amendment Fire Arms and 2nd Amendment Protection bills. All of these new laws focus on the use of the 10th Amendment to protect the guaranteed right of all individuals to keep and bear arms in the 2nd Amendment.
“NAGR strongly supports state-level legislation like this,” said Danielle Thompson, Press Secretary for the National Association for Gun Rights. “It is our position that the strongest version of this bill is urgently needed in Florida to combat increasing federal intrusion over the gun rights of all Floridians. It should include penalties for officials who attempt to enforce unconstitutional Federal gun control within the State of Florida.”
NAGR has been working actively throughout the past several years to advocate for similar bills in approximately a dozen states. They were actively engaged in advocating for a similar bill in Missouri, which narrowly failed a gubernatorial veto override vote.
NAGR supports the concept behind the Florida Second Amendment Preservation Act to hold elected officials accountable to their duty to uphold the Second Amendment and the rest of the U.S. Constitution.
The National Association for Gun Rights is the fastest growing gun rights group in America. Founded in 2001, NAGR is a civil rights advocacy organization designed to educate gun owners about state and federal legislation that affects their gun rights. NAGR assists the growing movement of state-level grassroots gun rights organizations, as well as organizing grassroots lobbying on state and federal legislation.
The Florida Citizens Alliance is a decentralized grassroots association of activist leaders, citizens, and interested parties across 32 counties (and growing) in Florida who have come together through the need to protect the Constitutional rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment. This organization is currently exclusively focused on educating others and promoting the Florida Second Amendment Preservation bill and State Sovereignty guaranteed by the 10th Amendment of our US Constitution. This alliance was inspired by the SWFL Citizens’ Alliance, a coalition of citizens and groups in Collier and Lee counties, who unite to advance the ideals and principles of liberty including, but not limited to, individual rights, free markets and limited government through education, outreach and community involvement.
