Online PR News – 30-October-2013 – Davenport, Iowa – American Food Quest (AmericanFoodQuest.com), a new web series featuring Chef Robert Lewis, the Happy Diabetic, promises to take viewers on a fun journey to discover America’s best-kept cooking secrets. This interactive series relies upon its viewers to identify individual quests for Lewis (search for the smelliest cheese or the tastiest SPAM recipe) and interesting places for the show to visit. The series will also highlight seasonal festivals, farm fresh produce stands, specialty coffee shops, novel microbreweries, and other intriguing stops throughout America to share a full spectrum of healthy delights for food lovers from all over the world.

“Many of the cooking/travel shows on TV seek out great foods that are cardiac killers loaded with fat, calories and lots of greasy, gooey goodness,” said Paul Kakert, the show’s producer and award-winning documentarian. “Our goal is to find great things to eat from grandma’s famous apple pie to that middle-of-nowhere restaurant with a must-try specialty dish, but also keep the calorie counter within reason. Along the way we hope to meet some really great people and find a lot of interesting places to visit.”

In the first episode, debuting on www.AmericanFoodQuest.com on October 18, 2013, Kakert joins Chef Robert on a quest to uncover healthy food-on-a-stick at the Iowa State Fair. The hungry duo uncovers everything from freshly squeezed cow’s milk to Iowa’s finest craft beers (and everything fried in between). Lewis and Kakert talk freely with various experts and fairgoers they meet during their quest, allowing their natural curiosity to unveil some of the mystique behind some of the famous fair’s most popular food and beverages.

The show is available at www.AmericanFoodQuest.com. Be sure to “Request a Quest” to tell Chef Robert and Paul where they should visit next to find the most unique, the tastiest, healthiest, and the most fun foods, places, and people across the country.

A passionate culinary expert, Lewis was diagnosed with type-2 diabetes more than 15 years ago. He visits health fairs, hospitals, and drug-sponsored events around the country to inspire healthy eating with a focus low carbohydrates, high fiber, fresh vegetables, lean meats, and appropriate portion sizes. In addition to hosting American Food Quest, Lewis is also currently promoting his third cookbook, Cook Fresh Live Healthy.
