Researchers stated that exercising reduces the risk of breast cancer by reducing exposure to hormone estrogen. This effect remains unaltered despite of additional weight gain or postmenopausal hormone therapy.
Online PR News – 17-October-2013 – USA – Do you sweat a lot on jogging track? Or perhaps on a treadmill? Was regular exercising one of your forgotten new-year resolutions? Start it NOW! Women who do some exercises regularly are at lower risk of developing breast cancer-a new study reveals. Those who do it more zealously may get even additional protection.
The research was started in 1992. 73000 postmenopausal women were examined in this research. They were asked to fill questionnaires about their medical, demographic and environmental factors. Reports of their duration of physical activity and time spent sitting were also collected. These procedures were repeated every two years between 1997 and 2009. Out of these women, 4,760 women developed breast cancer.
Researchers compared exercising habits between two groups of women-those who had developed brain cancer and those who were completely cancer-free. About 9% of affected women never undertook any physical activity. Half of them were involved in mere walking. However, moderate exercising like jogging or cycling reduced the risk of cancer. Those who had walked seven hours or more during a week with or without any another physical activity, garnered extra protective benefits from exercising.
Researchers stated that exercising reduces the risk of breast cancer by reducing exposure to hormone estrogen. This effect remains unaltered despite of additional weight gain or postmenopausal hormone therapy. Although the study has found close association between exercising and risk of developing breast cancer, the cause-effect relationship is yet to be established. The conclusion is daily strenuous exercising for an hour or more reduces the risk of cancer by 25%.
No matter how much indolent you are or despise exercising, it is certainly less painful than chemotherapy or radiation. Grab you shoes, tie your headband and walk along the path of healthy life.
