In addition to the IBM Smarter initiative, Lopez says “I also think of IoT as being a part of the IBM MobileFirst initiative. As you build new mobile-enabled applications with IBM Worklight, you’re starting to look at building IoT into those apps.”

An evolving concept that will drive business opportunities, Lopez is certain that IoT is here for the long haul. According to her “I don’t think it will pass. It’s something that’s been a long time coming and we’ve finally reached a maturity curve where we can do it,”
