St. Augustine Bed and Breakfast Gives Free Stuff During Annual Nights of Lights Celebration

Online PR News – 14-October-2013 – St Augustine/FL – St. Augustine made National Geographic’s Top Ten List of Best Holiday Lighting Displays in the world in 2011 and 2012. This annual celebration (featuring millions of tiny white lights that create a magical atmosphere in our nation’s oldest city) has been delighting both locals and tourists for 20 years. Tracing its origins to the Spanish tradition of displaying a white candle in the window during the Christmas holidays, the spectacular lighting reflects the city’s 448-year history and illuminates the beautiful setting for lasting holiday memories. Festivities begin with the lighting of the City’s Christmas tree at Plaza de la Constitucion (surrounded by King, Cathedral, Avenida, and St. George Streets) at 6:30 pm on Saturday November 23. St. Augustine will remain aglow thru January 31, 2014.

At this St Augustine bed and breakfast, the owners and their staff put the vitality to the hospitality. They claim to coordinate your every wish and spoil you every second, and they really do! That hospitality high is compliments of inn owners Joy and Andrew Warren. Both England borne, the Warrens ventured to the United States 40+ years ago. They spent many years in the Southern California hotels and hospitality business--Andrew with Preferred Hotels® and then his own company, Woodbridge Hotels Inc., and Joy as director of catering at Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina. St. Augustine’s Westcott House has been their “home” since spring 2009, and they have since showered thousands of guests with that earlier-eluded-to hospitality.

Bayfront Westcott House, located on Avenida Menendez in St Augustine FL, was built in 1880 as a private residence for Dr. John Westcott who was well known for his prominent military career, interests in transportation and politics, and research efforts in the cause and cure of yellow fever. He was a land surveyor for the St. Johns Railroad (whose tracks spread from the San Sebastian River to Tocoi) and was a heavy hitter in the development of the Intracoastal Waterway that links the St. Johns River to Miami.

The house changed hands a few times over the years and saw its fair share of soirees amongst St. Augustine’s elite. In the 1970s, it was converted into a guest house and has been entertaining tourists and travelers ever since! Today, Bayfront Westcott House is a 16-room, full-service bed and breakfast. Every room has a private entrance. Most rooms have a Jacuzzi tub, electric fireplace, and outdoor sitting area. In every room guests enjoy hypoallergenic microfiber sheets; plush but ecofriendly towels; and HydroSpa bath products.

During the season, guests who book the Nights of Lights package (2-night stay at regular rate, Sunday thru Thursday), will enjoy holiday spirits and hors d'oeuvres each evening; an exclusive and complimentary train ride through historic St. Augustine in its brightly lit holiday splendor; and yummy candy-cane fudge and hot chocolate from the local Fudge Buckets. This St Augustine bed and breakfast makes it their mission to coordinate your every wish and spoil you every second!
