SAN ANTONIO, TX (August 27, 2013) – Established in 1895, Providence Place adoption agency and center for higher independence is far from old-fashioned. The nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young women facing unplanned pregnancies, adoptive couples and families, and students with disabilities is teaming up with Mogiv to allow supporters to contribute from anywhere. Mogiv is a fundraising software solution that supports nonprofits like Providence Place to make it easier for them to raise funds and grow their organizations.
“Ongoing support from people who believe in your mission is the life blood of organizations like ours,” says Terry Levine-Trevino, Development Director at Providence Place. She adds, “We have come a long way over the past years with the help of so many individuals, foundations and other supporters, but we have to find ways to make it easy to give. The world is changing and we are changing with it.”
Providence Place has been operating in San Antonio, TX for over a century. It was originally a home for pregnant women seeking support and an adoption agency for couples seeking a family of their own. Today, Providence Place’s 25-acre campus houses three distinct programs: Action Adoption, Center for Higher Independence, and Ectropia.
Action Adoption continues to offer young women and teens facing unplanned pregnancies a safe haven where they have access to prenatal care, educational resources and training, counseling from adoption professionals and free housing. Additionally, Action Adoption works with prospective adoptive couples and families to complete the adoption process so that they can start or expand their family. The Center for Higher Independence offers young adults with disabilities a path after high school to learn the social and vocational skills they need in order to lead fulfilling and independent lives. Ectropia is a network of like-minded nonprofits designed to help support each other’s work and the Texas community. To do all of this work, Providence Place relies on the support of their generous donors, and supporting Providence Place just got a lot easier.
With the help of the new software solution by Mogiv, specifically designed for nonprofits, Providence Place advocates can contribute on their website, by email or by text. This revolutionary tool makes donating easy, efficient, and it allows contributors to donate any amount they choose, any time they choose.
“We now have a great number of young people involved with us and our mission. They are used to using smart phones and mobile devices for many aspects of their lives, including their decisions to donate. But they want to do it right then and there. They're not going to wait for a letter from us,” Levine-Trevino explains. She adds that the adoption agency has been surprised to learn that many of their older, longtime supporters are eager to use the mobile device donation tools, as well. Providence Place is very excited for the opportunities they will have to help more people and continue to grow their organization.
“Without our supporters' generosity over the 118 years of our existence we could not have provided brighter futures for close to 6,000 children who have been adopted into loving families desperate for a child.” Levine-Trevino says. “Nor could we, since 1974, have helped tens of thousands of young people with disabilities achieve the work skills, life skills and independence they couldn't have dreamed of before they came to Providence Place. Making this sort of a difference, one life at a time, is vital to those we serve.”
