Online PR News – 11-October-2013 – Miami, FL – MIAMI – Oct. 9, 2013 – My Uncle Gloria Film LLC has signed a creative partnership with two-time Emmy award-winning writer, director and producer, Robyn Symon, to write and direct the documentary, “My Uncle Gloria.” The film explores how the sexual reassignment surgery (SRS) of macho, auto-salvage yard owner, Bernard “Butch” Rosichan into transgender activist Gloria Stein at age 62, reunited an estranged and completely dysfunctional family. Filming has already begun and post-production is scheduled for completion by Spring 2014.

“My Uncle Gloria” includes riveting and deeply personal home videos, spanning 30 years of family life, including rare access to Gloria’s sexual reassignment surgery. The film also chronicles Gloria’s work as a dominatrix to pay for her costly surgeries and dives into her complex relationships with ex-wives, estranged sons, and her transgender life partner Dan, who undergoes a partial female to male SRS in the film. But through it all, Gloria found an unexpected ally, her nephew Steven Shulman, whose life she ultimately saves from spiraling out of control after his 22-year drug addiction and whose memoir titled, “My Uncle Gloria,” served as the basis for this documentary.

“My Uncle Gloria” is an inspiring story of family healing and acceptance that everyone can relate to, no matter what gender, race or background,” said author and creator, Steven Shulman. “I am incredibly honored to share Gloria’s unique transformative journey as a universial message of tolerance and acceptance.”

In addition to Emmy award-winning film director, Robyn Symon, “My Uncle Gloria” has assembled a top-notch team including the highly regarded Miami-based international public relations firm, Howard R. Miller Communications (HRMC), which will handle the film’s marketing and publicity. Additionally, Howard Miller, President of HRMC and an award-winning writer and television producer will serve as Executive Producer. Symon Productions will produce the film in association with the Synergy Entertainment Group.

The production team is currently planning to launch a crowd-funding Kickstarter campaign that will not only provide financial support for the film, but also build a strong social media following via Facebook and Twitter. Moreover, Steven Shulman will also release his memoir detailing his Uncle Butch’s transformation into Gloria and deeply emotional family reconciliation.
