Online PR News – 23-June-2010 – – Alfred, Maine – The Step Guys, a division of George R. Roberts Co., one of the region's leading suppliers of precast concrete products for both commercial and residential applications, today announced the availability of the broadest product line of precast concrete steps in the Northeast. Among its unique offerings are beautiful and elegant products that use natural stone and are designed to last 30 to 40 years with little or no maintenance. The Step Guys’ handily named step products help customers determine which solution best meets their needs.
“When we started Step Guys back in 1998 we wanted to bring a unique approach to the stodgy step business,” said Brian Brown, sales manager for The Step Guys. “Our steps all have unique names to make the process of finding new steps a bit more user friendly. Buying new steps is an infrequent experience for most people and we try to make it fun. Some people think we’re only step away from step crazy but hey, we just like what we do and we are kind of passionate about it.” Brown said.
The Step Guys offer a total of 12 different precast concrete steps, all of which are maintenance- free and built to last. Three of the company’s top selling unique steps include:
Rock-around is a precast concrete step created to look like granite, and includes a rounded radius front. This step is unlike anything else you will find anywhere.
The Big Boy step is manufactured using real stone and is a one piece casting. This allows for durability and strength while keeping appearance in mind. This step appears to be a series of individual granite treads and platform, which appear to have been built on a stone base.
This however, is not the case. The treads, the top platform, and the vertical walls are a one-piece casting, or monolithic concrete pour that is reinforced with steel and fiber mesh. The result of this process is a step that is incredibly strong and durable while being very ascetically pleasing to look at. The one-piece construction of the Big Boy step prevents water from seeping under and lifting the treads. The beautiful stonework is not a structural component of the step, but is a veneer of the vertical steel reinforced concrete surfaces, which are part of the monolithic pour.
Rock-a-fella is a precast concrete step that appears to be granite pieces stacked up with fillers to make a step. It is also a one piece casting that allows for the beauty and appeal of granite with the durability and affordability of precast concrete. The one-piece construction allows for railings to more easily be embedded than with granite.
The Step Guys are full service Step Company and provide a base for the step to be installed on. “Our customers really appreciate the fact that we provide a base for the step to sit on and that we offer a warranty that the step will stay level.” adds Brown
The Step Guys also offer a wide selection of railing choices. All railings are solid, not hollow, and are embedded into the steps instead of surface bolted to the top, both of which allow for better quality and durability.
